This may be obvious but are these hatches fully waterproof and would it still work waterproofed if installed horizontally?

Hello,
We wouldn't call any plastic deck hatch or service door truly "waterproof." They are designed to repel normal spray and rain, etc., but if they get submerged for any period of time, they will most like leak somewhat. It's always been our contention that they are all water repellent.
