I’ve ordered a couple of these mounts from you and noticed there is slant of a few degrees on one of the plates. Since I haven’t mounted them yet I wonder if the slant is designed to face forward or backwards. Thanks.

As far as we know, it doesn't serve any other purpose other than structural. You could maybe contact Springfield for more info though.
