Hi. I have a 2005 Four Winns 298 Vista. Recently, the two engines have been out-of-sync - the port engine control on the binnacle was far forward of the starboard engine. On my last outing, no matter how far the port engine control was pushed, the RPMs never made it past 1,000 (i.e., it remained in idle and there was no control).
I'm thinking this the be result of a failed cable? One that was slipping before and finally (perhaps) disconnected?
If so, which cable would be the best replacement?

Hi Dana,
I can not tell for sure the cable is the problem, however it is a good place to start as it is the easiest and least expensive. If you disconnect the cable on both sides, you should be able to easily move the cable in and out. Both sides should be moving. That should help you narrow it down.
