can you tell me the smallest possible cutout size for this item? I am trying to see if it will fit in a totally different boat than a sportsman. I just want to make sure that I have clearance to get it in there. The dimensions given are for overall size of the item not the cutout aprox sizes.

Hello David,
Near as we can measure it would be 29 1/4" wide x 17 7/8" tall x 6 1/2" deep. Tough to get exact since there are no straight edges, and we only used a tape measure, and you MIGHT be able to get it into something a smidge smaller.
