Is Marine East left gate latch 4027L intended to be installed on the left side of the gate when looking at it from the inside (on board)? If that is the case, then would the movable handle be pointing down when the gate is open? My current Sweetwater gate latches are circa 1997, metal, basically a C-shape that defaults to closed position by weight.

Honestly not sure on this one. We aren't dealers/distributors, and these came to us with no instructions - just that 4027L part number, and brief description. Unfortunately, that's the extent of our knowledge of these. About all we can suggest is to contact Marine East directly. Sorry.
