Hi Ed,
If you have room for it and can power it, I don't know why not. Now it would definitely need to be in some sort of protected/enclosed casing to keep it from getting water spray.

I measured the inside depth of my freezer and refrigerator and they’re 21 inches so with the 23 or so inches work I could not measure the outside depth

I'm afraid there just isn't any way we can tell you for sure it would fit, if that is what you are asking. I would sure think it would with 2 7/8" additional width. One wouldn't think the walls would be anywere near that thick.
